SCHOOL GROUPS

Our cycling educational programmes have created a pathway that enables children to transition from novices to safe and confident cyclists as well as encouraging young people to participate in a range of exciting cycle sports.

The school programme initiative is run by British Cycling qualified coaches, with all sessions focusing on:

  • Building confidence
  • Keeping fit and healthy
  • Learning new skills
  • Increasing self-esteem

The aim is for the riders to learn and reach their potential whilst enjoying themselves. The range of courses means that, children not only become confident at riding, but also gain an understanding of the sport and the equipment.

In addition to this, they can develop an appreciation for how cycling can help them in their everyday life, whether that’s through promoting independence or overcoming personal challenge.

GCSE Road Cycling

Standing as our flagship school booking experience, the GCSE PE Road Cycling Programme consists of two-days of onsite activities on our 2.5km, traffic free road circuit.

On the first day, the students are coached the skills required for the grading criteria, and on the second day the students are assessed. Both sessions take place on an enclosed area of the road circuit with our qualified cycling coaches.

Students must be competent cyclists to enrol in this session and must complete both days in order to receive a grade. We are responsible for the supplying equipment, coaching, assessing and grading of the students, whilst teachers take on the role of capturing the footage necessary for the external exam moderators.

Coached Cycling Sessions

Our coached cycling sessions allow primary and secondary school students to learn new skills and build confidence when cycling!

These sessions are targeted for students that can already cycle and wish to develop their ability and fitness further. Sessions take place on an enclosed area of the road circuit and are led by our qualified coaches.

The option to take the students on an off road, mountain bike coached session can be requested also, however the student’s skill level must be reviewed by the coach prior to advancing the session.

Balance bikes are provided for those students who cannot ride unaided.

Progressive Coached Sessions (6 week term)

Progressive coached cycling sessions allow primary, and secondary, school students to develop an understanding of multiple cycling disciplines and the skills required to ride confidently over a 6 week term.

These sessions are targeted for students that can already cycle and wish to develop their ability and fitness further.

Through these sessions, students will complete six 90 minute sessions across multiple cycling disciplines:

Weeks 1,2 & 3 = Road cycling

Weeks 4, 5 & 6 = MTB
