Every month, at Cyclopark Charity, we see over a hundred aspiring riders, from wobbly beginners to those looking for a refresher, our Learn To Ride cycling lessons with get you riding in one session!

We welcome everyone, children and adults, and we totally get it: learning to ride isn’t just about bikes, it’s about confidence, independence, and that first exhilarating taste of freedom in two wheeled form!

There’s something magical about turning those nervous, first pedals into carefree rides. We love seeing people conquer their fears and roll away with grins as wide as a set of handlebars no matter their age, starting ability or reason for learning!

Nearly everyone who attends a Learn to Ride lesson with us, gets riding within one 50 minute session! With around 100 lessons a month, taking place on weeknight evenings and weekends, we are proud to play an important role in getting our local community moving by teaching them an amazing life skill!

So Why Book With Us...

You’ve probably spotted those jerseys in reception, signed by cycling royalty.Sure, we could geek out about the legends who’ve ridden here and rave about our top-notch facilities – but loving cycling (which we definitely do) isn’t everything and there is certainly no need to drown you in specs to prove it.

Learning to ride a bike isn’t about all that. It’s about real life: having fun, a sense of achievement, and getting from point A to B a bit faster. What you choose to do with your new found skill is completely up to you.

In reality, maybe you need a little nudge to finally take the plunge. Maybe you’re staring down a family holiday at Center Parcs, and one member of the crew is still dragging their feet about getting on two wheels. Or maybe you’ve spent hours chasing your child around a park, trying to coax them onto a bike while they critique the helmet, the bike, the temperature – everything but actually riding. We get it…

That’s why we’re here. All those frustrating, nerve-wracking moments? They’re our bread and butter. Whether it’s a first-time rider or a caregiver who’s ready to hand over the reins, we’re pros at turning the stress into smiles.

One big win that comes to mind is a child who got pedalled just an hour or so before they were to attend their friend’s cycling birthday party, not that we advise cutting it that fine.

The Life Skill You Never Outgrow...

“It’s just like riding a bike” is most accurately used when refering to doing exactly that – once you learn, you (generally) never forget – regardless of age or time passed between cycling.

Learning to ride a bike isn’t just about moving around faster than you can on two feet. It’s about gaining independence, boosting self-esteem, and feeling the wind in your hair as you ride freely and wherever the wheels take you! For young people, it’s a rite of passage…

For adults, the opportunities are endless, opening the door to social clubs, fitness benefits, a new hobby, making more friends, making the most of good (and bad) weather and staying active. It is never too late, and we cannot stress that enough…

Our Secret? The Instructors

Our instructors are more than just cycling experts – they’re masters of motivation. They know every rider is different, and some need a little extra support.

We’re experienced in working with SEN children and those who might need a bit more patience to build up the confidence to ride!

And here’s the kicker – we make every lesson fun, engaging, and packed with little victories. Because when you’re having a blast, learning just comes naturally. The funny thing is, you probably can already ride a bike, what you need is us to unlock it!

Our Other Secret? The Process

Our process for Learn To Rides is not ground-breaking, but it works by developing the key mechanic of cycling – balance and confidence. Once you overcome these two factors, pedalling and steering come naturally, all in one 50 minute session!

Step 1: Begin with a Balance Bikes

We kick things off on balance bikes—no pedals, no pressure. Kids learn to glide, steer, and balance all on their own. It’s all about fun and freedom as they build confidence from the ground up.

Step 2: Transition to Pedalling

Once balance is mastered, it’s time to add pedals! We guide them through starts, stops, and that magical first solo ride. The smiles say it all—this is where the real riding begins.

Step 3: Gradual Independence

Now they’re pedalling pros, we focus on riding solo. Using cones fun challenges, and lots of encouragement help build skill and confidence. They’ll be zooming around like champs in no time!

Step 4: Conquering Gears and Brakes

Time to level up! Kids learn to shift gears and brake like pros, ready to take on hills, trails, and any adventure ahead. It’s all about control, confidence, and conquering new terrain.

During the session, parents can watch freely as their child grasps the concept of balance and pedalling before their very eyes, in our safe and enclosed Multi Use Games Area, leaving some parents to state: “The coach got my son riding a pedal bike in 5 minutes, something we’ve been trying for months to do!”
